Made from optical grade quartz and cut with
a polished crown to bring out the best in opal or any gem.

The backs are finished with a light frost to improve bonding
and when wetted with epoxy,the stone becomes water clear.
We recommend Hughes 330 , on sale at the bottom of the page along with
our blackening powder for making doublets and triplets.

We have 5 calibrated sizes of High Domes on hand and we carry plenty of standard low domes as well in many sizes ( listed below).

Blackening Powder
This pigment is mixed with epoxy to make a deep black for
bonding your opal to a backing stone or piece of glass
making sharp doublets or triplets. A little goes a long way.
Sold in 4 gram jars..........$3.00 ea.


This is our favorite epoxy.
Sold in a set of 2 half ounce tubes, to be mixed in equal parts, making a water clear bond and
when mixed with a pinch of our blackening
powder, will give your opal a deep black backing.
